What is the lure of the road? Is it the adventure we seek in our destination or merely the thrill of the impending journey?

Regardless of why we go, countless Americans hit the road each year in ever-increasing numbers to explore, enjoy and document the vast swath of our nation. Whether it be a weekend trip to the beach or a cross-country marathon, the drive to hit the pavement and see the sights seems to be ingrained into our national consciousness.

In fact, the concept of a road trip predates the automobile or even, for that matter, roads themselves. Without delving too deeply into our primordial desires to migrate, suffice it to say that taking a road trip and the reasons for it are something with which we are all at least somewhat familiar.

The purpose of this blog is to offer insights into the ways and means of staging a successful and enjoyable road trip. From tips on how to find the most agreeable accommodations to whether to stick to the interstates or hit the back roads, we’ll try to take an in-depth look into the many questions and concerns you might have when you decide to hit the road.
